About Ricky

Biography

Ricky Koole (born in Delft, 1972) is an actress and singer. In 1995 she graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts from the Kleinkunstacademie in Amsterdam. Since then, she has performed in various plays and films. She creates theater shows centered around music, and has released seven albums: Ricky Koole With Ocobar (2017), No Use Crying (2013), Wind om het Huis (2011), To The Heartland (2010), Harmonium Live (2009), Ricky Koole (2007), and Who’s Suzy? (2004).

Ricky has created multiple solo theater shows, as well as four music theater shows together with Leo Blokhuis: Harmonium, Laagland (“Netherland”), Buitenstaanders (“Outsiders”), and New Orleans. Together, they also released a series of compilation albums titled Songs we shouldn’t forget.

She hosted her own radioshow on Radio NH. Ricky op Zondag (“Ricky on Sunday”).

In recent years, she starred in the feature length film Sonny Boy, and portrayed one of the main characters in the RTL4 medical drama CMC, and the NET5 drama series Verborgen Gebreken. She has been nominated for various national prizes, including the prestigious Gouden Kalf, for roles in Sonny Boy, Lek, De Jurk, Ochtendzwemmers, and De Kersenpluk.

Four times a year, Ricky organizes services for nonbelievers, opening the new season with songs, reflections, a choir, and a guest speaker (for instance an author or politician). Formerly these gatherings were held in De Nieuwe Liefde, and as of 2017 they take place in de Rode Hoed in Amsterdam.
